Imposter Syndrome – It’s Very Real

Imposter Syndrome

Many of us struggle with Imposter Syndrome, feeling like we’re not good enough or fearing that we will be exposed as a “fraud,” especially as we navigate the changes brought on by menopause. This can deeply impact our confidence and sense of self-worth.

This is our Opportunity for Transformation

We need to reframe our Inner Dialogue

  • We must begin by acknowledging the challenge of Imposter Syndrome, especially during mid-life when hormonal changes can shake our confidence.
  • This stage of life, though challenging, is actually an incredible opportunity to redefine how we see ourselves and our worth. It’s a chance to turn things around and step into a new chapter with renewed self-belief.

Imposter Syndrome is not just a struggle but it is a signal that it’s time for change. This is the perfect opportunity to take control of our inner dialogue and reshape it into something positive and empowering.
If we seize this opportunity, we can unlock new levels of confidence that will impact every aspect of our lives—from our careers to our relationships, to our overall sense of well-being.

The photo is me at a recent keynote where Imposter Syndrome was really trying to take over. I had to really talk to myself and remind myself that I was more than capable, had done this a thousand times before and that I really did know what I was talking about! It’s not easy, but it is about recognising it for what it is – an Imposter!!

How Can I Help Myself:

  • A simple exercise is to start by writing down the negative thoughts that feed our Imposter Syndrome. Then, rewrite these thoughts as positive affirmations that reflect our true value and capabilities
  • Take a moment to talk to yourself and remind yourself that you’ve got this
  • Remind yourself of everything that you have achieved to date
  • Just breath, this can be so powerful, just take a moment and breath
  • This small step is the beginning of a much larger transformation, where we can move from self-doubt to self-empowerment.

This is more than just overcoming a single issue, it’s about embracing the opportunity to turn our life around. As we start to shift our inner dialogue, we’ll begin to see the possibilities for growth and change in other areas of our lives. This is the time to reclaim our self-worth, once we do this, we’ll naturally start to notice how anxiety ties into our experience, and how addressing it can further our journey of transformation.

Imposter Syndrome, just like Menopause is not a dead-end, but it is an opportunity to start transforming our lives, we just need to be more open and accepting of the changes that both our mind and body are going through.
